An At Home Experience
Mental Health Homes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate, long-term care for individuals living with mental health illness. We proudly serve a community of 75 residents, offering them a safe, stable, and supportive home environment where healing and personal growth can flourish. We care for their every need, which includes and is not limited to: accommodation, medical care, meals, rehabilitation and stimulation. We have four homes situated within Kariega (Uitenhage).
Our mission is to provide care to this defenceless group of persons in order to meet their basic needs such as physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. We also aim to provide recreation and stimulation for our residents. Regular contact with family and friends is encouraged. Safety and security is provided at all times. Our main objective is to provide this service to the community in order to provide not only a much needed service but most importantly to provide a “HOME AWAY FROM HOME”. Mental Health Homes is based on participation, mutual trust, respect and empathy.
